Kimberly Feeney,
began her career in the field of Communication Disorders after graduating from the University of Maine at Farmington in 1981. She received a B.S. in Speech Correction and a teacher’s certification in the State of Maine for regular education in grades K-8. After moving to Rochester, N.Y., she took on a position as a Speech Therapist for BOCES Churchville/Chili School District during the winter of 1983. Upon returning to Maine in the summer of 1983, Ms. Feeney worked until 1993 in public school systems as a Speech Therapist. In the fall of 1993, Ms. Feeney established Bright Beginnings Nursery School when she was the owner and operator of a language based preschool program serving 3-5 year olds. During this time she also contracted with CDS as a Developmental Therapist working with children in her program. Upon graduating from the University of Maine at Orono in May,1997 with an M.A. in Communication Disorders, Ms. Feeney worked for Sandcastle Preschool Program as a Speech/Language Pathologist. She worked at Sandcastle for three years with infants to children who were five years of age. In the summer of 2000, she began her own private practice in Speech and Language Therapy. In 2004, Ms. Feeney included contracting her services to public schools in Maine as well as continuing to service the birth to five population in her private practice. She continues to work in her private practice today while teaming with Occupational Therapists and a Physical Therapist at a clinic near her home in Brownfield, Maine.
Ms. Feeney is a member of ASHA and MSLHA and holds a license in speech/Language Pathology from Maine and a 293 Certificate endorsement from the state of Maine DOE. She specializes in articulation, language, childhood apraxia of speech, childhood fluency, and communication skills for children with Autism. Ms. Feeny has had training in PECS, Visual Strategies, and the Lindamood Bell Reading Program.
